AMTA sponsors district and state level solo
auditions for piano, organ, voice, guitar, and orchestral
instruments
AMTA auditions provide:
a written evaluation of the performance
a written evaluation of theory/technique
a progression of musicianship skills
that will prepare the average student for entry into a
college music program
feedback to teachers as to the
effectiveness of their curriculum
Concerto auditions, state level only
AMTA participates in the Music Teachers
National Association performance and composition
competitions at the elementary, junior, senior, and young
artist levels
Many local associations offer additional
performances through hymn festivals, sonata/sonatina
competitions, and recitals
Five AMTA student scholarships are awarded
during the spring state auditions and are presented at the
annual state conference
