Collegiate Chapters

The purposes of our collegiate student chapters are:

1.    To acquaint students with professional opportunities and career options in the field of music.

2.    To provide educational, musical, social, and professional experiences that augment the student's formal course of study.

3.    To develop professional leadership skills.

Student chapters may be formed on any college or university campus. Student members are not required to be members of local associations. Each Student Chapter must have a sponsor or adviser who is an active member of the state and national associations.

Organizing a chapter on your campus is simple. Follow these steps:

1.    Appoint a member of your faculty who belongs to MTNA as faculty adviser.

2.    The faculty adviser should then notify the National Chair of Student Chapters of the intent to organize a chapter.

3.    The National Chair requests approval for the establishment of a chapter from your State Chair of Student Chapters.

4.    The State Chair of Student Chapters then notifies MTNA National Headquarters of state approval for the establishment of a new student chapter.

5.    MTNA National Headquarters forwards membership applications, a New Student Chapter Information Form, and a Student Chapter Handbook to the adviser.

6.    Once the New Student Chapter Information Form has been completed and returned to MTNA National Headquarters, a certificate will be forwarded to the new chapter and the State Chair of Student Chapters will be notified that the establishment of the chapter has been completed.

New opportunities for collegiate chapters!
